It was founded by a single mom of 7 ; calling themselves the “Lucky 7” because they consider themselves so lucky to be children of such a wonderful mother. Aurora’s heart was always to give her kids the best life that she could give them. Facing the struggles that come with being a single mother, Aurora had to find a way to support her family. Although many tried to discourage her from pursuing a career in barbering, she did it anyway. Barber College became the stepping stone to what would become her future. She worked for another barbershop for years and then her daughter Eren joined her after finishing barber school herself. After working a few years for someone else, she realized that the best thing for her and her family was to open up her own barber shop. Later, her daughter Crystal also joined the barbershop, she has worked at M&D’s for 16 years, but is currently a seasonal employee. Aurora opened the barbershop doors in 1999 and she never looked back. At M&D’s we pride ourselves in being a family owned barbershop caring for other families. So many of our customers have become more than customers. We are so grateful for those who have sat in our chairs for years and who have believed in the business that this mother of 7 has built.
